Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)

CCS means the removal of carbon dioxide from a point-source emission, such as a smokestack. The concept of CCS is different than CDR because stack emissions are more concentrated in CO2 than the mixed atmosphere so techniques for capturing CO2 can be different than for removing it. However, a number of principles of CDR are also applicable to CCS, and CCS has a role in the BECCS approach to CDR.
