Unit Operations are the stages of a process - a unit operation generally involves the operation of a single machine or operating approach or a simple sequence of activity. Unit operations combine into production processes, but a particular unit operation might be applicable in many different processes. Examples: pumping water, felling trees, adsorbing CO2 onto solid media (desorbing is a separate unit operation).
