E05 Intro to DAC with Habib Azarabadi, PhD

In this episode of This Is CDR we are pleased to welcome Dr. Habib Azarabadi, who introduces us to direct air carbon capture (DACC). Habib’s presentation includes a review of current tech pathways and use cases; and a discussion of his influential recent paper (authored with Dr. Klaus Lackner) “Buying Down the Cost of Direct Air Capture.”

Moderated by Toby Bryce (@wtbryce) and Megha Raghavan

PRESENTER Habib Azarabadi is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow with Arizona State University’s Center for Negative Carbon Emissions. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran, and earned a Masters and PhD in Sustainable Engineering from Arizona State University. Habib’s research focuses on environmental and economic analysis of direct air carbon capture technology, as well as positioning DACC technology in the existing energy infrastructure and scaling through mass production.
