The rate of innovation across the carbon removal spectrum must ramp up to historically unprecedented speeds if gigaton carbon removal is to be achieved by the middle of this century. Realizing this goal will require a massive expansion of participation from the global public, and particularly from young people who will fill the ranks of tomorrow’s mature CDR industries. Online challenges and competitions are powerful modes by which such engagement can be maximized and diversified, and novel ideas and new directions can be generated and shared.
In this short webinar the OpenAir members Chris Donnelly and Chris Couchoud will provide a sneak preview of the collective’s soon to launch CarbonCrowd, an online platform for hosting monthly open source CDR technical challenges, and convening global teams to participate in them.
